The clients wanted a modern, open, clean look in the front with more drought tolerant plants, but also wanted a lush green setting, reminiscent of home to one of the homeowners. Modern elements combined with groups of lush plantings give that feeling without high water demand.

For this pool deck planting renovation, we reused several pots and plants that the homeowner had.  Then added a couple of eight foot stock tanks with a few more plants to create a lush tropical feeling backdrop.

replaced lawn and 1960s shrubs with updated, low water, low maintenance garden.  Black pebble and slab stone paths with boulders to hold back sloping border add structure and interest.  A stone water feature in the back provides a tranquil feel and a nice focal point

A non profit organization that caters to families with young children.  They needed a low water, low maintenance garden that invites children to look and touch.  The program director wanted an aztec spiral theme.  Color and texture are a strong theme that runs through this xeriscape design with South African and Autralian plants.

Homeowner had a narrow, 4 foot strip along driveway and wanted to feel like he was in a secluded woodland.  He asked for a full, lush, layered planting, privacy screen.

This vision for this large, sloped, weedy lot was a habitat garden providing food for wildlife and the homeowners and principle owner of  GardenWise Landscapes.

California native bent grass meadow in a dog friendly garden.  This is three months after installation.  Patio pavers and gravel expand usable space while saving water with less planted area.  The patio in the center of the yard is large enough for a fire pit and seating.

I’ve always dreamed of having a clean, modernist home, and I’m happy to say that Alice and her team at Atelier Cohen led the way to making that dream a reality! I couldn’t be more happy with the project, my house looks like it could be featured in a Kinfolk magazine. I expressed my wishes of having a clean, natural interior aesthetic and they truly delivered – the natural light in my newly designed home is to die for. They also helped me turn my dated, drab living room into a spacious and cozy space in which I can’t wait to host a party. I had the pleasure of working with Alice on redecorating my childhood home that hadn’t been touched up since I was a teen in the 80’s.
